A conference at Luxe Pack New York focused on printing technologies and featuring experts specializing in brand protection, smart packaging and digital packaging solutions.
Speakers were Jessica Wirka, Director of Brand Protection, Authentix, North America (above, left); Tom Baran, CEO, Fathom Optics (above, right); Theresa Patton, senior director of packaging marketing, Avient Corporation; and Peter Possenti, Harry’s Inc. Wirka from Authentix spoke about “connected products” and smart packaging, and explained the different ways of using digital printing on packaging. She explained how to use QR codes more effectively as an anti-counterfeiting measure.
Baran from Fathom presented 3D graphics for the packaging. “We have a way of taking existing printing presses, materials, substrates – things currently in use – and we adapt them to create high-end works of art and unique designs,” he said. .
The ICS Color team discussed their digital color screen proofing solution. Blake explained the many problems with using hard proofs as an alternative and why digital tools are more productive. They offer advantages in terms of time saving, economy and respect for the environment.
