Velox launches Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control technology for digital printing on plastic tubes

Innovative ink technology for direct digital printing in mass production form enables unparalleled quality of photorealism and ultra-sharp text and lines

ROSH HA’AYIN, Israel and DUSSELDORF, Germany, October 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Velox Ltd., an innovative developer and manufacturer of direct-to-shape mass production digital decoration solutions, today announced its latest innovation in ink technology: Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control for extruded and laminated plastic tubes. The new technology delivers exceptional photorealistic precision in images, fine graphics, and ultra-sharp text and lines, with high ink efficiency and no impact on Velox’s extremely high decorating speed of 250 cpm on tubes of the largest diameter and length. Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control regulates each drop as it hits the substrate, creating drop diameters up to 60% smaller than before with Velox’s ink technology, while allowing other drops to perform the same volume to spread and cover large areas.

  • Velox will showcase samples printed with Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control technology and also show an interactive 3D simulation at K 2022, October 19-26, 2022in Hall 4, Booth #A61.

“Velox seeks to provide the most innovative and advanced technology to the digital decoration market to meet brand requirements,” said Marianne Cofler, CEO and co-founder of Velox. “To achieve this goal, we invest heavily in R&D to discover breakthroughs in digital print quality, while continually expanding our system architecture and ink capabilities to meet market demands. Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control is a great example of this, and customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Converters and tube fillers will be the first customers to benefit from the latest breakthrough in Velox ink technology for the Velox IDS-PT series. The cosmetics and personal care markets have the highest demand for packaging decoration with extremely small text and fine detail, as well as crisp, sharp photorealism. Customers who test Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control technology note that the level of precision and sharpness of even the smallest text and fine elements, such as fine lines, is comparable to analog printing, while the quality of other decorative elements like images and gradients is superior. In addition, the new technology available on the Velox systems brings each of the printing advantages of flexo, screen printing and dry offset printing into a single decorating system. Thanks to the combination of Velox’s unprecedented print speed and new advanced ink technology, customers will no longer need to decorate the container using multiple printing methods to achieve a high quality product.

Micro-Pixel Drop Shape Control is part of Velox Variable Viscosity Ink™ (VVI) technology, specially developed and formulated digital UV inks that enable excellent printing properties, unsurpassed decoration quality and high ink efficiency . It now includes:

  • Extremely small drop diameter for fine detail and text, plus a large drop diameter for high ink coverage efficiency
  • Wide color gamut – exceptionally vivid and intense process colors
  • Superior functional properties – high adhesion and abrasion resistance
  • Substrate and surface independent performance – highest quality printing on virtually any material or container coating
